Bas Ackermann is a broad-minded creative director within film, branding & storytelling. He write, directs & edits narrative film, documentaries, music videos and brand films. 

His latest award winning film 'Gifts from Babylon’ premiered at the Nederlands Film Festival and was nominated best short narrative impact film for the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles, United States.

He started out by capturing youth culture like street skateboarding. This lead him into the production of award winning music videos.

By the age of 24 he had directed his first tv series about Dutch youth subculture for the Dutch national broadcast channel. 

Since then, Bas Ackermann has over 15 years of freelance experience in creative directing, documenting cultural trends and creative impact storytelling.

This has lead to creative– and film directing for (international) brands, tvc’s, fiction- and documentary productions around the world. Working with clients like; Wieden + Kennedy, UN / World Food Programma, Grey Singapore, Unicef, BOOKING.com, Bonkers, Seepje, KLM, Adidas, Amnesty International and internationally acclaimed director Anton Corbijn. Bas Ackermann likes to work on innovative on edge concepts and artistic (brand) films. 

Between directing and creating Bas Ackermann rides waves preferably in Java, plays music and practice the art of shiatsu.
